The scheme covers air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps, and hybrid heat pump systems. You cannot use BUS to install a traditional gas or oil boiler. Your installer must be MCS-certified to carry out the work.
Once you've received a quote from your installer, the application process typically takes 2–6 weeks. Your installer submits the BUS application on your behalf. We recommend applying before March 2027, as the scheme closes after that date.
No, you cannot combine the BUS grant with the ECO4 scheme or other government heating grants. However, you may be eligible for additional support depending on your energy bills or income—we'll advise during the initial conversation.
